This Weekend

05/07/2026

I am always looking for something worthwhile to do in my town on the weekend. Often I’ll go to some event, have a nice time, take a bunch of photos, and then share them on line and almost always someone will comment: “That looks fun, wished I’d have known about it… When did we get a Rugby Team?… We have a Big Band?… How long have we had Community Theater?…”

So, I’m going to try out an idea of compiling my findings and publishing them here. I am not sure how this project will play out – if my interest is even sustainable – but we shall see.

Understand – happenings shared by me will be almost always something I’d go to for real. Events that are Family and Pet Friendly, boast a DJ, are all ages, tease techno music, are sing-alongs, or are faith based will almost certainly not be included in my suggestions. Exceptions may occur but that would almost certainly involve pancakes. I prefer free and low cost events.

Do know that everything included will be something I looked up on-line and read with my own eyes. This compilation is – at the moment – an experiment. I will bear no responsibility for errors of fact. Things get cancelled – venues can be, um, behind on updating their websites. Look these things up when you’re making plans.

If you have an event you’d like to be included here you may pass it along to me at dpblakeney@msn.com. I do not promise I’ll include it – but I’ll look it over.

I’ll try to provide links to help folks lock in on the events and things I find. Please call or check (with the venue, not me) before heading out to something you see here.

Speaking of links. On my browser I have a folder of tabs I labeled “Municipal.” Here I have shortcuts to the Web Sites of Ypsi City, YTown, WashCo, MichGov, etc. I now have added another folder with shortcuts to Ypsi Real, UMS, Ypsi Alehouse and the like. This should help me find stuff as we go.
