Another weekend is upon us and we are faced with the same question again. What is there to do this weekend in My Town? Will it be fun? Will it be free? Will they let me in (do they remember me?) Do I want anything to do with it at all?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Often I find something to do, go do it, take pictures, and come home and share the pics online. Way too often I get comments like: when did we get a Roller Derby Club? When did we get a Belly Dancing Troupe? Why didn’t I know about Rugby? Since when do we have a big band? I didn’t know we had a motorcycle and bong parts swap meet last weekend!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So, as a public service I am experimenting with an event calendar I can pass along through my blog. Everything I include will be something I found on-line and read with my own two brown eyes. I looked on websites for Ypsi Real, The City of Ypsilanti, Y-Yown, and a few sites for venues. I accept no responsibility for anything passed along here.<\/strong> I have made an attempt to check accuracy but I have not called the all places to verify information. Venues – and believe me when I say this – are terrible<\/em> about keeping their on-line calendars up to date. So check what you see here before heading out to town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Understand – this is a list of things I’d be interested in. Me. Dan. Events that are all-ages, family friendly, pet friendly, have a DJ, are faith based (unless pancakes are a key component), are fundraisers for things I don’t like, are sing-alongs, include karaoke, or allow banjo’s – will rarely be included here. Its my list, so deal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Understand Too – I’m lowbrow. A kazoo event to lullaby goats is of more interest than Yo-Yo Ma at Pease Auditorium. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Here we go… (I’ll need to do some research to format this table better – but this is what you get this week).
